Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas (early) to everyone. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. Be safe.

I was reading a blog I follow and she had pictures of some of her ornaments and I thought I would copy :-)

So here are just a few of our ornaments:

Rush rush

After getting over 10 inches of snow Friday we had a fun/interesting weekend. Friday was the blizzard, but Josh and Marilynn made it home just fine. Thank God. I was really worried.
Acacia testing out her footing (cowboy boots don't really work well LOL)

Saturday we got up and went outside and built a snowman. It was cute...the head was bigger than the body. It was quite comical. Plus I didn't have anything for the eyes, nose, buttons etc, so we had to compromise and you couldn't hardly see it. Still we had fun. After that we had to get ready to go down to Josh's sisters house for the Christmas dinner. We left an hour early (it only takes about 30 minutes) and it took us over 30 minutes just to get to the main road. It normally takes about 3 minutes. Crazy! There was so much snow and ice. Well, we made it down there fine, late, but fine. The way home was a whole different story. We made it to the top of our driveway and got stuck. Our rear end was in the road and it took forever (shoveling, reverse, forward, reverse...) to move about 5 feet out of the road where we got stuck again. At least we were out of the road. LOL

Our snowman

Sunday I got up and managed to get the Explorer un-stuck and moved almost all the way to the house before getting stuck again. LOL I then proceeded to shovel and shovel and shovel an area to park the car. Josh came out and helped me, thank goodness. That's hard work (or maybe I'm really out of shape...can I blame this one on pregnancy? ha ha). We decided it would take us a week to try to shovel our whole driveway so we grabbed a bag of salt (from years ago LOL) and went back and forth over the driveway dumping handfuls of salt. I don't know how much it helped, but we managed to get out and back in. Yay!

I finally got some Christmas cards in the mail today. Grr, I normally have them in the mail the first week or so of December. I ran out of cards and had to pick up some more today. So there are some that will be even more late...*sigh*. Oh, well.

We did finish almost all of our Christmas shopping yesterday while Josh's mom watched the girls. I bought the last present today. Woot woot!!

Josh and I watched New Moon last night. I liked it...the books were better, but aren't they always.

While the girls and I were running errands today I decided to treat them. We stopped by Sonic and got Jr Candy Sundae's. Mmmm. I even got Acacia her own. Hee hee. She looked so cute eating it.

Mmmm Ice Cream :-)

Well I guess that's it for now. Hope everyone is having a great (and safe) Christmas week.

First time for everything

Ok, so pregnancy brain has officially taken over. I cooked a frozen pizza for dinner...chicken, bacon, ranch, yum :-)... and forgot to take it off the cardboard. Duh. I'm just glad I didn't start a fire or something. Heavens sakes.

I finally got to take the girls outside to play in the snow. Well we didn't stay out long, it was more like a blizzard. The wind was blowing so hard it was like ice hitting your face. Needless to say we didn't last long. When I measured a few minutes ago, my yard had 9 inches. Who knows how accurate that is, but it seems like it and it is still snowing pretty good. Its not supposed to stop until tomorrow evening. Yey :-)

Snow

Today we are having our first snow of the winter. Yey! I love the snow. Right now it is snowing so hard and is so cold with the wind we can't even play in it. :-(

Hopefully (tomorrow morning maybe, I want it to snow all day today) we will be able to build a snowman and play in it some. Here are some pictures :-)

All new

Thanks for the ideas and web pages to help with the new look. I think this is the one I like (for now LOL).

I think I'm going to try to convince my hubby to take the girls to Christmas Town (aka McAdenville, NC) tonight after Sarah's wedding...if its not to late anyways. I took the girls around town last night and they loved it. Acacia was going crazy at all the lights. We will see I guess.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

This is what happens when my "big girl" decided she didn't need a nap :-)

100th Post

Ok, so... I have had nothing blog-worthy to talk about lately. I have been sick and had sick kids. I think everyone is finally getting better. (fingers crossed) On that subject: why is it that some medicines say that certain ages can use them but the doctors say no...are there not certain rules that they should follow? What if I didn't call my pediatrician and just gave them what I thought they needed because the box said it would be ok? Grrr. Acacia is having belly issues and my sister has children's pepto which says is okay for 2 year olds. The pediatrician on the other had says no way. Now, I will listen to my pediatrician because she is awesome, it just frustrates me that the box says different. So, in a few minutes I am on my way to the store to get some Pedialite like my doctor recommended. Hopefully her belly will feel better tomorrow. And (fingers crossed again) hopefully she will not get strep throat or pink eye like the other children.

So, here is my 100th post and I think I would like to change the way my page looks. I can't afford to pay anyone to do it...besides I would like to design it. I am just not sure how to go about it. I don't really like the layouts that they have and I am not sure where to go to find more. Hmmm any suggestions?

Well, on that bla note I will leave you with a picture of our house a few Christmases ago.

Kids play nice

We had some friends over for dinner and a little Wii bowling Saturday night. Here are some pictures of the babies playing nicely together. Also my girls playing Sunday afternoon. I just love it when kids play nice. :-)
"Hey Lachlan, what cha doing?"

"Ooohhh, wow I didn't know you could get IN the basket"

Snakes

Saturday while we were waiting for my [stupid rasenfrasen] bread to rise, we decided to go visit my sisters friend. He has snakes and Hannah wanted to hold one. She ended up chickening out and would only hold the end without the teeth (not that I blame her, I am the same way). Now Josh held it and decided that he wants one. Hahahahahahahahahaha yea right. We have two dogs and four cats...sure why not add a snake to the mix. Um because I don't want to. I'll go and look at them somewhere else, but they will not be at my house. With that said, here are some pictures :-)

Acacia was not interested in even petting it
Josh holding it, crazy man LOL

Friday-Bake day

Friday Hannah and I baked and baked. We made sugar cookies and Hannah decorated them. They turned out very cute (very icing, sprinkled). I then made Lemon bread with lemon juice - powder sugar icing. I have this pan that makes little loafs of bread. I love it. It is so cute and works out perfectly to give to people. After the lemon bread was done I made chocolate, chocolate chip bread. I just sprinkled powder sugar on the top so it wouldn't stick to the plastic wrap. By the time everything was cooled, iced and wrapped it was after midnight. I still had to lay out the dough for chunk bread to rise overnight. It was a long day to say the least.

Hannah decorating the cookies

Mmmm cakes and cookies

This is Acacia helping me, and by helping I mean crying because I wouldn't let her "hold you"
It began with going to the store. That may not sound to bad, but here in North Carolina when they call for snow (which they were) everyone goes crazy. They pack the stores buying everything they can. So, non the less a bad day to go to the store. Being from where snow is no big deal I tend to forget that everyone goes crazy. Oh, to top it off my battery died at the store and I had to call my friend to come jump me. It was actually kind of comical to see two pregnant women trying to remember how to jump a car, trying not to get shocked. Oh, good times, good times LOL

Sick and lazy

My sweet Hannah lovin' on me

*sigh* So, after all the running around we did all weekend... we (hubby and I) ended up sick. Grrr! I could barely handle it yesterday. Being prego and all there isn't much you can take, but I tried Benedryl and it worked enough so I could sleep. I do feel a little better today, but I did call and tell them I am not coming to help at the soup kitchen tomorrow. I figure I better rest and I don't need to be giving everyone my cold or whatever I have (I kinda think its just allergies, now that I am feeling better so fast). Oh... I have so much house cleaning to do... Its a vicious circle. Clean before everyone comes over and have to clean after everyone leaves. LOL

Thanksgiving weekend

Hope everyone out in blogger land had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We did. I got up early and went to the soup kitchen and helped cook and serve a wonderful turkey dinner. After that I rushed home to finish cooking our Thanksgiving dinner. Thankfully my hubby put the turkey in for me and cleaned house :-) All of our friends and family arrived around 5pm and we ate until we couldn't eat anymore. Ha ha. A little surprise, Josh's sister that lives at the coast was able to make it after all. That was a nice surprise. We don't get to see her often.
~
Black Friday.... I don't do black friday. I hate crowds like that, I would probably hurt someone LOL. Josh and my sister Marilynn get up around 2:30am and brave the crowd. I babysit (which is really just me and the kids sleeping :-)... I get the better end of the deal I think). But, thanks to their bravery we only lack a few things to finish Christmas shopping. Josh and I have sort of made a tradition for the last few items. We have a date night, dinner, maybe a movie and then grab the last few things we need. I am looking forward to it this year. We are going to go see New Moon. :-)
Later in the day (after naps were had by all haha) we put up our tree and then went to Marilynn's and helped her put up her tree. Lovely :-) We still have to put up our outside lights, but none of us feel very good today so I am not sure when that will get done. I did promise Hannah she could help me wrap presents today though. So I guess I will suck it up for a little bit. Ha ha.

I just thought I would share this picture with everyone because I thought it was darn cute. Acacia, fresh out of the bath, decided that she need to "jam" on her guitar... naked. LOL I just love it!! She it so darn cute!
Break it down girl!
~
Saturday we went to our friends house to help them decorate their tree. My bestfriend Amy has 40 billion ornaments :-) and it takes her forever to do it herself so she recruited us last year to start helping her. We had a great time. We decorated, ate wonderful grilled sandwiches and french fries, and played cards until all hours. Love it!

New kitty

We have been adopted by a kitten. A few weeks ago we found two little kittens on our porch. We tried to nurse the little black one back to health but unfortunatly we lost her during the night. The little grey kitten we so little and starving so we took him in and feed him. We tried to give him away but no takers. So, now we have little "Boots". He is a sweet and super lovey cat. We have all fallen in love with him, although Acacia has claimed him. LOL

Its been so long...

Oh blog how I've missed you...

So much has gone on and I don't know how long I will have this Internet connection, so....

We went to the Asheboro Zoo and had a blast. I knew Acacia would like it, but, what I didn't anticipate was that she would cry every time we tried to move on to another animal. I finally had to make a big production of saying goodbye to the animals so we could move on. LOL

Josh, Hannah, Jaylynn and Acacia looking at the elephants

Halloween was fun. The kids did great, although it did start to rain and we (the parents) had an excuse to call it a night. We did have to take Acacia to the ER later that night, but it wasn't a huge deal, just an allergic reaction.

Jaylynn the witch, Hannah the vampire and Acacia as Tinkerbell

Acacia celebrated her second birthday :-) Oh, my baby is growing up so fast. Sometimes she blows my mind. She sings all the time, and not just kids songs, songs off the radio too. She almost knows all her ABC's and can count to 10. My little smarty britches! Ha Ha

Daddy helping Acacia open birthday presents

Oh ya... I am pregnant :-D I am a little over 9 weeks. We had an ultrasound and saw/heard the heartbeat. yea! We have had so many miscarriages that I just don't even believe it until that little heartbeat. So...here's to 3 kids LOL (oh, my what have I gotten myself into hahahaha)

Hope everyone out there in blogger land is doing well and has a wonderful holiday season.

If I only had enough time...

I have been able to get on the internet for just a minute here and there. I haven't been able to get caught up on everyone's page... and I miss it so. Hopefully I can get my own internet again soon. Hope everyone is doing well and has a great Labor day weekend. We are planning to go to the zoo one day. Yey! I love the zoo and this will be the first time Acacia is old enough to enjoy it too.

Sad/Irritated

So, I haven't had much going on to blog about. We have gone camping, puttered around in the garden... nothing exciting. But now, sadly as I have become addicted to the internet, we will no longer have regular access to the internet. I am trying not to be too irritated with the whole situation, and will not vent due to the fact that it is not mine to vent about (for now). I have really come to look forward to and enjoy my blog friends and their pages. I am going to miss "checking in" with everyone everyday.
Hopefully I will get this internet situation figured out soon. Until then hope everyone is well.

Beautiful day

The family and I decided to go hiking over the weekend. My sister and niece came with us. My sis suggested Catawaba Falls. It was, oh about 1 1/2 or 2 miles maybe. The kids did it easily and the sights up to the falls were lovely too. Once we got to the falls we were all a little hot, so we took our shoes and socks off and played in the water. It felt so good. Josh and I got a wild hair and climbed up the falls a little bit. It was just so beautiful.

This is the view from the bridge we crossed to start the hike

Josh, Hannah and Acacia stopping for a short break
Hannah overlooking the broken dam
Catawaba Falls
Josh about halfway up the falls (we got a wild hair to climb the falls)

Oh, a side note... the baby backpack carrier thing is wonderful!!! I have used it on a little walk, but it hasn't been tested on a hike until now. Josh carried Acacia and agreed that it was so much more comfortable than the front carrier (uh, hello... Acacia is like 25 pounds now). I think Acacia liked it too, with the exception of on the way back down, the way her leg was positioned it fell asleep. Yea, try explaining that to a 18 month old. But all in all it was a great day. :-)

Hannah's Sunflowers

Hannah's sunflowers are blooming. :-) She is so proud of them. They are so pretty. I thought I would share her progress.

Hannah and Josh watering the just planted seeds

Hannah and Jaylynn in front of the super tall, pretty sunflowers

So, I have a strange squash (??) growing in our garden. I have no idea what kind of veggie it is. I have looked on the internet and can't find this particular veggie. So.... if anyone has any idea what this is, please tell me :-)

The mystery veggie is the big green almost butternut squash looking thing.
Well, I am going to take the girls to the library tomorrow afternoon. It has been a while since we have been. It is time though, I am out of books to read and the girls are tired of reading the same ones (ok, maybe I'm tired of reading the same books to them). Hopefully we will find some good reads :-) I would like to get Where the Wild Things Are for the kids, I have never read it to them. I am currently reading The Choice by Nicholas Sparks. It is a good book (no edge of your seat), but whats really cool about it... I've been where most of it takes place. It really makes it fun to be so familiar with a book like that.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to work at the soup kitchen all day tomorrow. I have an apmt and my sister is looking at a house and wants me to go with her. I will try thought, even if I am a little late.
Oh, some good news (for me anyways) the tailgate farmers market, that is normally only on Tuesdays is expanding to Saturday's also. Wahoo! I have a hard time getting to the Tuesday one because of my schedule, but I can do Saturdays. I am excited.
Anywho.. hope everyone is have a great day. :-)

Looking back

I don't have much going on these days. Cleaning house, taking care of kids, working in the garden and the soup kitchen. I think I found out that I am not watering my garden enough, but hopefully things will perk up now. Sooooo... since I don't really have anything interesting to blog about I thought I would put a few older pictures on here.

Play time

Our friends decided to have a celebration date night and asked us to watch their son. Keith and Hannah get along great (they always have) and they played hard non-stop. Acacia wanted to ride in the truck with them but wouldn't fit of course... so, I had a wild idea... hook up the wagon to the truck. You would have thought I bought them a whole new truck. Acacia loved it and Hannah and Keith took turns driving. It was too funny.
After dinner (homemade enchiladas with fresh cilantro from the garden... mmmmm yummy) we built a fire in our little fire pit out back. It was so relaxing. My sister ended up coming over and when our friends got back they hung out a while by the fire with us. Nice evening :-)

Helpful

Ok... First of all I am feeling so much better. I went and volunteered yesterday at the soup kitchen and if that doesn't put your life into perspective... well. Then my in laws and my family went to Josh's sister Crystal's house to play in the pool. We had such a good time. All in all, a really good day.

Helping at the soup kitchen is something that I have been wanting to do for a while, but I don't think there was one in my little town until our church started one. It was uplifting to do for other people, but there were some definite moments of sadness. There were some people there that you just want to hug and take home and don't even get me started on the kids.

I was a little worried about taking Acacia to the pool. She doesn't really like anything cooler than bath water. But, low and behold... she loved it! Awesome. Maybe we can go visit more often now that I don't have to fear a screaming baby.

So... wahoo for good days :-) Now for a busy, but hopefully good weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone :-)
