Beautiful day

The family and I decided to go hiking over the weekend. My sister and niece came with us. My sis suggested Catawaba Falls. It was, oh about 1 1/2 or 2 miles maybe. The kids did it easily and the sights up to the falls were lovely too. Once we got to the falls we were all a little hot, so we took our shoes and socks off and played in the water. It felt so good. Josh and I got a wild hair and climbed up the falls a little bit. It was just so beautiful.

This is the view from the bridge we crossed to start the hike

Josh, Hannah and Acacia stopping for a short break
Hannah overlooking the broken dam
Catawaba Falls
Josh about halfway up the falls (we got a wild hair to climb the falls)

Oh, a side note... the baby backpack carrier thing is wonderful!!! I have used it on a little walk, but it hasn't been tested on a hike until now. Josh carried Acacia and agreed that it was so much more comfortable than the front carrier (uh, hello... Acacia is like 25 pounds now). I think Acacia liked it too, with the exception of on the way back down, the way her leg was positioned it fell asleep. Yea, try explaining that to a 18 month old. But all in all it was a great day. :-)

Hannah's Sunflowers

Hannah's sunflowers are blooming. :-) She is so proud of them. They are so pretty. I thought I would share her progress.

So, I have a strange squash (??) growing in our garden. I have no idea what kind of veggie it is. I have looked on the internet and can't find this particular veggie. So.... if anyone has any idea what this is, please tell me :-)

The mystery veggie is the big green almost butternut squash looking thing.
Well, I am going to take the girls to the library tomorrow afternoon. It has been a while since we have been. It is time though, I am out of books to read and the girls are tired of reading the same ones (ok, maybe I'm tired of reading the same books to them). Hopefully we will find some good reads :-) I would like to get Where the Wild Things Are for the kids, I have never read it to them. I am currently reading The Choice by Nicholas Sparks. It is a good book (no edge of your seat), but whats really cool about it... I've been where most of it takes place. It really makes it fun to be so familiar with a book like that.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to work at the soup kitchen all day tomorrow. I have an apmt and my sister is looking at a house and wants me to go with her. I will try thought, even if I am a little late.
Oh, some good news (for me anyways) the tailgate farmers market, that is normally only on Tuesdays is expanding to Saturday's also. Wahoo! I have a hard time getting to the Tuesday one because of my schedule, but I can do Saturdays. I am excited.
Anywho.. hope everyone is have a great day. :-)

Looking back

I don't have much going on these days. Cleaning house, taking care of kids, working in the garden and the soup kitchen. I think I found out that I am not watering my garden enough, but hopefully things will perk up now. Sooooo... since I don't really have anything interesting to blog about I thought I would put a few older pictures on here.

Play time

Our friends decided to have a celebration date night and asked us to watch their son. Keith and Hannah get along great (they always have) and they played hard non-stop. Acacia wanted to ride in the truck with them but wouldn't fit of course... so, I had a wild idea... hook up the wagon to the truck. You would have thought I bought them a whole new truck. Acacia loved it and Hannah and Keith took turns driving. It was too funny.
After dinner (homemade enchiladas with fresh cilantro from the garden... mmmmm yummy) we built a fire in our little fire pit out back. It was so relaxing. My sister ended up coming over and when our friends got back they hung out a while by the fire with us. Nice evening :-)

Helpful

Ok... First of all I am feeling so much better. I went and volunteered yesterday at the soup kitchen and if that doesn't put your life into perspective... well. Then my in laws and my family went to Josh's sister Crystal's house to play in the pool. We had such a good time. All in all, a really good day.

Helping at the soup kitchen is something that I have been wanting to do for a while, but I don't think there was one in my little town until our church started one. It was uplifting to do for other people, but there were some definite moments of sadness. There were some people there that you just want to hug and take home and don't even get me started on the kids.

I was a little worried about taking Acacia to the pool. She doesn't really like anything cooler than bath water. But, low and behold... she loved it! Awesome. Maybe we can go visit more often now that I don't have to fear a screaming baby.

So... wahoo for good days :-) Now for a busy, but hopefully good weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone :-)

Blue, again

*SIGH*
I wish I could get out of this blue mood I have been in. I'm sure everyone gets in those, wish I had more money, wish I had more time to myself, wish I could go on a trip, moods. I am volunteering at the soup kitchen tomorrow. Hopefully I will be in a better mood for that. I love to help people and our church started this soup kitchen on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I haven't had a chance to go help until this week and I am very excited to help. I have talked about starting/joining a program (state funded, as it should be) that helps elderly people shop or run errands and whatnot, but they don't have one in our area and I don't have the money to start one.

Anywho, just talking about helping people has put me in a better mood. Thanks blog world :-)

I think I will take the girls outside to play for a while. I really could use the exercise. I didn't do so good at Weight Watchers this week (still haven't figured out why..but, will try harder this week).

Hope everyone has a great night.

Creative streak

Acacia drawing in the bath

I thought I would be fun and let Acacia play with sissy's bath crayons. Funny, Funny! She had a
blast drawing all over the bathtub. She even tried drawing on the bottom and the outside of the tub. Haha it was so cute. She then decided to get really creative and name her body parts while drawing on them. So cute, I just love her!!

Hubby Josh and I

One day she will probably kill me for this one, but oh so cute!

Acacia's painted toes

While Acacia was sitting on the potty (learning, slowly) daddy decided to paint her fingernails and toenails. She wouldn't hold still long enough to take a picture of her fingernails (and they didn't last long... she decided that she needed to eat the paint off... guess we will wait to do that again LOL), but I thought this was a cute picture of her little feet.

Lazy days

I don't have much to blog about today... so why am I blogging... I don't know, bored I guess. :-)

I have run so much the last 2 or 3 weeks that I decided this week I would not do much. And I haven't. Hee hee, of course now, this weekend I really should clean house (I didn't let it go bad, but it does need to be cleaned).

I will say that my garden is growing like crazy! Everyday I pick cucumbers and now my squash and zucchini are coming in nicely. We have 4 or 5 watermelons that seem to double in size each night. My tomato and pepper plants are finally starting to produce some teeny tiny beginnings. Wahoo! My cilantro is wondrous and smells so good. I can't wait until my tomatoes and peppers are ready so I can make some salsa. Oh, let me tell you that no one that I know will go without pumpkins this year. Hahaha. We might have planted too many pumpkin plants. Oh, well... the kids will love it. :-)

before

now (not after 'cause its still growing) :-)

Ok, sorry a kind of boring blog.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Kid Senses

Last week Marilynn and I took Hannah and Jaylynn to this place called Kid Senses. Its really fun. They have a firetruck with boots and jackets the kids can wear. They have a miniature restaurant, grocery store, dentist office and news station for the kids to take over. They also have a craft room, puppet stage as well as a real stage with costumes, alphabet trail and that's just upstairs. Down stairs they have my favorite rooms; the bubble room and the shadow room (there are more rooms downstairs too). It was so much fun. They have also added a garden (it was closed though, so we didn't get to walk through it this time) and a virtual reality ride.

Here is all of us waiting to go on the virtual reality ride

Here is Marilynn and Jaylynn's shadow in the shadow room (hard to see, sorry)

On a side note, here is my garden :-) It is doing so good! I am excited! We have already got some veggies out of it and they are so good. Yey for us :-)

4th of July

Happy 4th of July!!!
We went to a BBQ at Scotty and Melissa's house and ate way to much :-)
After the BBQ we went to the parade in town. The kids had a blast. Ok, not just the kids :-)

Josh and Acacia watching the parade

Skylar, Casey, Marilynn and Hannah getting ready for the parade

Glenn, Julie and Keith waiting on the parade

After the parade we went to Julie and Glenn's house and had lasagna. Mmm so good. We played Uno attack! for a little while, trying to kill time until the fireworks. Then around 9pm we piled in Glenn's truck and headed to the fireworks.

My family :-)

Hannah was so proud of her earrings - such a big girl
We had a fabulous time at the fireworks. Acacia loved them. She was ooing and aaaing at all of them and calling them pretty. It was super cute. Hannah and Keith ran around and played and had a blast too. All in all it has been a great vacation week. Hope everyone had a great holiday.

Relaxation

Sunday we went up to Curtis Creek for a few days of camping. It was so nice. We found a little swimming hole to play in with a nice big rock to sun bath on. Julie and family, Amy and family, Marilynn and Jaylynn and Aimee all came up too. We stayed until Tuesday afternoon.

Acacia thinkin' she's a big girl and poor Hannah didn't feel good :(

After we got home Tuesday we showered and then headed over to Marilynn's to visit with Aimee before she had to leave Wednesday morning. It was a nice visit. I did have to laugh a little at Aimee. I don't think Aimee anticipated the humidity. We tried to tell her but seeing is believing so they say. Haha, sorry it was so hot Aimee... but it is pretty here though :-)

Blowing bubbles at naynay's house

I swear Marilynn's eyes are the same color as her shirt :-)

Fixed!

Grr! My computer has been playing tricks on me the last week or so, but I believe I have fixed it now. Take that computer (no..haha just kidding computer...i love you, don't mess up again).

So, now to update....

My friends, Scotty and Melissa's wedding went very well. It, of course, was sweltering hot, but everything went off without a hitch.

Here are some pictures:
The wedding party (and Melissa's kids)
The wedding cake, grooms cake and Oreo balls (mmmmm! yummy!)
My family....oh, to take a picture where we are all looking and all smiling would be a miracle.
I am glad it is over. I was helping with all the reception stuff and was the made of honor. *sigh* Stressful! I am very pleased that it went well.
