Just chillin'

Not too much going on these days. My sister in law in staying in town while her husband is deployed to Haiti. We have been hanging out with her and her kids a lot. Its nice to have some cousins for the kids to play with. Having some friends and family over this weekend (if we don't get to much snow) to eat some yummy food and play games. Then my little niece is turning 4 on Sunday, so we are having a party for her. Should be lots of fun.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hope for Haiti

How easy it is to forget how precious life is. I am sitting here watching Hope For Haiti and remembering how blessed I am. Hearing stories like a mother digging/searching for 50 hours to find her 2 year old son whose cries she could hear getting weaker and weaker, have made me wish I could send every penny I can dig from my couch...makes me wish I hadn't spent money on Taco Bell and sent it in... I sit here and openly cry wishing there was something else I can do. I can here my 2 year old in her bed not wanting to go to sleep and it hurts me to think of all of the children (and others of course) that are suffering right now. Right now all I can do is pray for everyone over there and thank God for what I have. I am truly blessed beyond...I don't even know how to put it into words. I am just thankful for everything and pray that miracles continue to happen.

Wonderous Weekend

I had a very nice weekend. It started with my friend, Julie's, baby shower. It was a nice little shower with some of our closest friends. They ended up with several nice things for the new baby. I am so excited to meet little Alex. February 1st he will be here :-)
After the baby shower our friends the Tunks (also at the baby shower) and my family went to my sister's boyfriends house for a little bit to visit. We all started getting hungry so we headed back to my house for spaghetti and homemade meatballs, salad, garlic bread and some tapenade. I tried my hand at making meatballs for the first time. Everyone seemed to really like them (I don't like ground meat, so I didn't try them LOL). It was a very nice dinner.
After dinner we played Domino's for awhile, while the girls played the Wii. Our friends ended up crashing at our place and in the morning the guys ran to the store for breakfast stuff. We had a breakfast (well, brunch or lunch really) of scrambled eggs, sausage and hashbrown casserole. Yummy! After letting our food settle for a few minutes the adults took a turn playing the Wii. :-)

Such a good weekend. Hows was yours?

Lap dog?

I don't know if you can even see this very well, I took it with my phone. But it is a very large dog sleeping on the dash of this truck. I was driving through the grocery store parking lot and saw this. I thought it was too funny. Just thought I'd share it :-)
Have a great night everyone.

Maybe now

So I finally went to the doctor and got some meds for this horrible cold that I've had for oh...6 weeks. I also took Acacia to the doctor and got her some meds for her sinus infection. Now maybe we will all be "sick-free" for once :-)

So sweet!

As most of you may remember, I watch my niece Jaylynn while my sister is at work. Well, today Jaylynn was a little upset when her mom went to work. She was crying a little bit and Acacia was very concerned. Acacia asked her if she missed Naynay (thats what my kids call my sister), then she corrected herself and asked if she missed her mommy. Jaylynn said yes. So, Acacia told Jaylynn she should ride her Giraffe to feel better. How sweet is that. Let me tell you that the Giraffe that Acacia got for Christmas is her favorite toy right now.
I just love her!! She is such a big girl.

Florida Trip

Just thought I'd tell you about our Florida trip.
The girls looking at the lake.

We arrived a day late because of our car troubles, but our drive down was pretty painless. I say this because it normally takes us 12 - 14 hours to get to my grandma's. This year we were equipped with the GPS I bought my hubby for his birthday last year and we made it in 9 hours. WOW! This is a huge deal! May I remind you that I have a 6 year old, a 2 year old, my hubby and I am pregnant. We only had one "unauthorized" stop for me to potty :-), the other two were gas stops also. We made it by 11am (we left our house around 2am).

We get there and say our hello's to my grandparents and my dad and meet my dad's girlfriend Jeannie. She is super nice.
Dad, Jeannie, Grandma and me
The girls playing at the park by grandma's house.
The girls chillin on grandma's patio.

After settling in and resting for a while we took the girls out in the golf cart to cruise around. Acacia, just like last year, feel asleep on the ride. After driving around a little we came back to grandma's and ate a wondrous dinner. After dinner we just sat around and visited. It was so nice. That's pretty much what we did everyday LOL (aren't you supposed to be lazy on vacation). One night we took the girls to the town square so they could dance (they have live music almost every night). It was so cute and funny. We had so many people comment on the girls and even some people come sit with us to watch them or to dance with them. Ha ha! I loved it. I wish would could have gone another night but it was surprisingly cold this visit.
Shake your bootie :-)

Unfortunately my dad and Jeannie couldn't stay the whole time we did, so we had to say goodbye to them. It was a great visit though. Hopefully they will come up when the baby is born. Jeannie and I were plotting a trip :-)

Dad, Hannah, Me, Acacia and Grandma

The girls decided to try out dad and Jeannie's bike before they left.

It rained almost all day on Friday so we took the girls to watch Alvin and the Chipmunks 2. It was cute. Then back to grandma's to be lazy some more :-)

Saturday was the day we were coming home. Coming home we don't leave in the middle of the night. We normally wait until early afternoon and make it home around midnight. We weren't really worried considering how well we did on the way down. Well, Hannah said she didn't feel really good, but I just kinda figured she just didn't want to go home. I was wrong. She started throwing up. Oh, fun. After some medicine, she said she was feeling better and wanted to go feed the ducks.

This was before Acacia decided she was brave enought to stand on her own and feed the ducks.

I had promised the girls we would feed the ducks and we hadn't done it yet. So we went and fed the ducks. It was so funny watching Acacia feed the ducks (it was her first time). We get back to grandma's a little later than we wanted (I already had everything packed up and in the car) so we start saying our goodbyes and Hannah starts throwing up again. *sigh* Oh, a 9 plus hour drive home...not going to be fun. So we swipe a roll of paper towels and find a makeshift bucket and hit the road. She was such a trooper. She didn't get sick anymore (thank goodness). She didn't try to eat though either.

Once we hit Georgia we stopped at a McDonald's that had an indoor play area for dinner and let the girls run some energy out. Then on the road again. Apparently with everyone else in the world. The traffic was so bad that through the entire state of Georgia we didn't go over 30 mph. At one point it took us an hour to go 1 mile. 1 MILE!!! We were getting so frustrated. So we decided to put our GPS to work (and throw caution to the wind and trust it). We set it on back roads and took the next exit. Our nine hour drive turned into a 12 hour plus drive. Awesome. Oh, well, at least we made it home. We had a great vacation and can't wait to see them again.

Better late than never

Oh I have been so slack... between being prego, holiday, traveling and everyone taking turns being sick, I haven't even blogged about Christmas yet. So here goes (I'll try to keep it short and sweet).

Christmas Eve

We spent most of the morning trying to clean up the house. We made food for the dinner later at Josh's aunts house. After going to the candle-light service at church we picked up my sister and headed over to Aunt Ruth's house. The roads were still a little nasty from the snow storm a few days before but we made it. Everyone (including people we haven't seen in a few years) was there and of course there was yummy food (I tried my hand at making my friends spaghetti salad and Josh made fudge). After eating and visiting for a few minutes we let the kids open their presents and then the adults play dirty santa. I got the coffee pot I wanted -yey me (mine was broken). The kids got totally spoiled, of course. Then we were off to home to get ready for santa.

Christmas Day

Hannah was the first up, like always, and started getting into her stocking before even waking us up. LOL I think she was so excited about what she got she remembered that we weren't even up yet. We got up and got Acacia up to see what santa had brought. Once Acacia saw her giraffe she almost wouldn't open anything else, almost :-)

The girls were so excited about everything. The highlight of the early am presents (don't get me wrong I loved everything I got) was the new video camera the girls got me. whoot whoot...LOVE IT!

We gathered the girls up to head to NayNay's house (aka my sister, her car couldn't make it up the snow/mud hole we like to call our road). We opened more presents and my sister made us breakfast. Yum. My wondrous sister bought me a food processor...um I have always wanted one...yey! On a side note...I forgot my camera for Christmas Eve and couldn't get it to work at Marilynn's house...I did use my new video camera and when I figure out how to download from it I will post a video :-)

After all that we headed home to shower and get ready to go to Josh's sisters house. We had three of Josh's sisters, my sister, his parents and all the kids at this get together. What party would be complete without food? None, we had pizza and other little snacks. I think the only reason we eat all year is to prepare for the holidays LOL. Lots of fun. Now to go home.

December 26th

We met my sister at our friends Glenn and Julie's house for lunch. A delicious homemade ham salad, chips and chocolate cake. After visiting and going over baby names (Julie and I are both prego) we let the kids exchange gifts. We then had to try out the new Aerosmith guitar hero game they got for Christmas, of course. Love guitar hero! Love Aerosmith! Then, because I can't button my pants anymore I needed to run to the mall and get a much wanted/needed belly band. Well, Glenn and Julie decided to go with us. So we did a little shopping and then went to dinner. Great day :-)

December 27th

Happy Birthday little sister!!! Kinda makes me feel old that my little sister turned 25. Oh, how time flies. We made her a chocolate, chocolate chip cake, covered in chocolate icing just like she wanted. We took it to her house and hung out for a little while. I took advantage of her paved driveway (ours was still covered in snow) and cleaned out our car for the trip. Julie and Glenn came over for a little and visited. More baby talk - what do you expect with 2 pregnant women?

On our way home our check transmission light came on. WTF We are supposed to leave in a couple of hours for Florida! *^&*^%#%^&!!! Aaaaa!

December 28th

Trying to distract the kids from the fact that we are not on our way to Grandma's house in Florida. Take the Explorer to 2 different shops and they not only can't tell us what is wrong, but also don't really want to work on it. Frustration, anger and sadness is all setting in. I only get to see my family once a year, if I'm lucky.

Mother-in-law saves the day. Josh's mom says we can borrow her Jeep to go on vacation. Yey!!

So we set up an appointment with the Ford Dealership for when we get back and start packing.

I will leave it at that for this post. I think its plenty long LOL Vacation blog coming soon :-)

New Year Resolutions

There are a millions things I would like to do this year. But I think I am going to narrow it down to one. My New Year resolution for 2010 is to be happy. I am a relatively happy person, but when you throw a couple of kids (one more this summer) and all the stresses of everyday life, I have found that I hardly ever smile anymore. I am always so busy with this and that. I just want to focus on being happy. I have so much to be happy about. I have a wonderful husband, two beautiful girls and a baby on the way, and wonderful friends and family. I just need to smile and enjoy it all more.

I hope all of you have a happy, blessed, full of smiles and laughter 2010.

Life is good :-)
